I hate my T25 Turbo

Yeah, I said it.

There are times when it’s just easier to admit defeat, and this is one of those times. This turbo’s exhaust housing has me beat, in a nutshell this exhaust housing for my t25 just needs to be melted and replaced. Otherwise this t25 is virtually useless, boost leaks are no fun. And the only viable solution is to weld my downpipe directly to the turbo housing to kill the leak.

But If I needed to remove the turbo for any reason I would have to saw the flange welds from the turbo. And that is still not a guaranteed solution to my problem. So I won’t even waste my time. Therefore, I have determined that it’s just going to be cheaper to buy a used t25 from someone who has one laying around and hope it doesn’t explode and destroy my engine.

My day started off by me heading to a machine shop to see if they could drill out the siezed stud. 3 hours later I get a call from them saying to come pick the turbo up no charge since all they did was just make it worse.

I shot an email over to turbonetics to also give me a quote on replacing the exhaust housing. This turbo is in really great condition, and it would be a godamned shame to have to junk it.

EDIT: Good news

I got an email back from turbonetics with this response.

Ok that is the turbo # 466113-1
The turbine housing is # 430609-0162 Garret has discontinued it.
The turbo is discontinued as well. It is kind of popular
however I do not have one. The only way to fix it is to
have someone E.D.M. (Electric Discharge Machined) where
they burn it out with electricity. I have a guy that will do it but it costs $50.00
