Laundry List of things to do

Getting a bunch of modifications for your car sounds like a great idea until you're slaving away for hours installing said modifications instead of driving the car.

I'll tell you I'm the first to admit that I neglect this car. I need to replace all of the major oil seals on the engine and the transmission. And from the looks of things this weekend, the diff needs to be serviced as well.

But here is the car with it's cover on after another 8 hour day of trying to accomplish a lot.

Overview of my current workload with the car

  • Braking system refresh
    • New fluid (Motul 600?)
    • new front pads
    • new rear rotors and calipers and pads
    • powdercoat rear calipers, front calipers, and front rotor hats
    • stainless rear lines
    • r33 e-brake cables
    • z1 motorsports anchor bolt
    • all new hardware for the rear drum assemblies
  • Drivetrain refresh
    • Remove JIC suspension
    • Install Driftworks C2 coilover suspension with stanceworks air cup kit
    • Install airtank and wiring
    • add cusco quick releases to rear and front strut tower bars
    • Electric Power Steering conversion
  • Body Work
    • make mounting hole adjustments for hood pins
    • refresh and repaint front upper core support
    • paint new masa motorsports hood, bn sports fenders, vertex sideskirts, vertex front bumper and rear.
    • Paint Protection Film application
    • install racebred components front splitter
  • Electrical Work
    • Relocating fusible link from dashboard fuse panel to trunk using 10g tefzel wire
    • installing new fusebox under dash
    • wiring up electrical power steering unit
    • wiring up air suspension tank and controls
    • wiring up disco corner lights and turn signals from shota rock
    • wiring up hid headlights
  • Plumbing
    • Installing porsche 911/boxter a/c condenser currently evaluating fan options would prefer brushless progressive load so oem wiring can be utilized. Will be controlled by the aircon system.
    • creating an air dam for the condenser unit
After writing it all down, I didn't realize how much of an undertaking or burden I had created for myself, on top of collecting parts here and there to build an sr20det / ve hybrid engine as a back burner project.

There is just so much more to do. I take whatever little free time I have to accomplish the work, obviously a lift and an extra hand would make things go faster. However the catch 22 with getting things done fast is that it will normally bite you in the ass more than just taking your time. The car has been on hiatus since 2015 and barely made a reappearance in 2019 with 2022 being the most active year for the car yet.

So being down for a few months isn't going to kill me, and it's just a realization that there are a lot of small things I need to take care of general maintenance wise. While performing some of the work currently we run into some setbacks, but that's always going to be a the result of neglecting a car. I'm just thankful at least the horrible suspension clank will finally be making it's exit from my life and the car will be on a potentially more dialed in setup with the new coil overs. It was time to retire the jics.

Either way sorry for the wall of text, enjoy the video as it's all over the place.
